Have you ever wondered if that inner nudge you're feeling is your intuition or your ego?
I mean, it can be challenging to tell the difference.
Recently, someone who is close to me told me that one of my biggest goals will never become a reality. This person went on about all of the reasons why I won't accomplish it.
Um, excuse me?!
So many feelings went through my mind such as feeling hurt, angry, and spiteful.
OK, so you're probably thinking, Kristin, why the hell would you allow someone suck all of your precious energy away? That is another topic for another time.
So let's get back to this night where I am feeling absolutely crushed by hearing the words, "your goal will never become a reality."
Obviously, I was thinking to myself, "I'm gonna show them!"
And guess what? That is absolutely some of the most potent energy when working toward a goal. Proving someone wrong really feels amazing.
I've often felt underestimated in my life and trust me, I love using that as fuel for the fire.
Yet, as the weeks went on and I had those spiteful thoughts of wanting to "prove them wrong", I couldn't help but realize that this was desiring my goal from a place of ego.
It's not necessarily wrong or bad to come from a place of ego, but the journey is so much more fulfilling and enjoyable when it comes from a place of your higher-self.
This exploration is vital for manifesting the dream life you've been yearning for so let's explore this more.
From a spiritual perspective, the ego is often viewed as an essential aspect of our human experience. It's not inherently negative; rather, it serves a purpose in safeguarding us.
The ego can be seen as the part of us that separates our individual self from the vast cosmic whole, providing us with a sense of identity and self-preservation. It acts as a guardian, helping us navigate the physical world and protect ourselves from harm.
In essence, the ego is like our internal security system, alerting us to potential threats and ensuring our survival. So, while the ego is often portrayed in a negative light, it's important to recognize that it plays a vital role in our lives and can be harnessed for our benefit.
The higher self is regarded as the loftiest, most profound aspect of our being. It represents the purest expression of our individual soul and is intricately connected to divine guidance.
The higher self is the part of us that transcends the ego and the limitations of our earthly existence. It serves as a direct channel to the wisdom of the universe, offering insights, intuition, and a profound sense of purpose.
When we tap into our higher self, we access a source of boundless love, wisdom, and spiritual clarity. It guides us along our life's path, helping us make choices that are aligned with our true purpose and the greater good, ultimately leading to a deeper sense of fulfillment and connection to the divine.

Showing Off vs. Fullfillment
Imagine this: You're at a party, and you've just bought a new designer handbag, not because you love it, but because you want to flaunt it. That's your ego talking, my friend. Ego-driven choices are all about showing off, proving a point, and seeking validation from others. It's like wearing a mask just to fit in.
On the other hand, when you create from your heart and intuition, it's about genuine fulfillment. You embody your best self, not to impress anyone but because it makes your soul do a happy dance. You wear that bag because it brings you joy, not to make someone else green with envy.
External Influences vs. Internal Satisfaction
Are you the kind of gal who's always trying to keep up with the Jones'? Trust me; you're not alone!
The ego can be sneaky AF, whispering in your ear that you need to be just like the cool kids next door. It's all about scarcity, comparison, and the infamous thought, "when I have this, then I'll be..."
But when you're creating from your intuition, it's about turning the spotlight inward. You don't care what the Joneses are up to because you're too busy rocking your own unique style. It's about genuinely feeling good without external influences. You've got that magnetic charisma because you're being unapologetically you.
Approval Seeking vs. Self-Love
Let's get real about approval seeking. We've all been there, chasing after dreams or stuff because we want the world to pat us on the back. Ego-driven desires stem from needing approval, craving love and acceptance, and suffering from a bad case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
Now, here's the juicy part – when your heart and intuition are calling the shots, you desire things for yourself. Because you already love and accept yourself, baby!
You're not worried about what others think; you're in the driver's seat of your own life. Opportunities are a dime a dozen, and you know it. You just genuinely desire this, no strings attached.
It's time to get practical, because knowing the difference isn't always a walk in the park. Here are some examples to help you spot the signs:
Ego Alert: You're scrolling through Instagram, and you suddenly feel the urge to buy the latest trend, even though you don't really like it. You're doing it for the 'gram, not for you.
Intuition: You're strolling through a flea market, and an old, quirky painting catches your eye. You don't care if it's on-trend; it speaks to your soul, and you can't leave without it.
Also, this doesn't mean that desiring a designer item or the latest trend means that it's ego based, it's all about the energy you come from as you desire it (i.e. internal focused versus external focused).
Ego Alert: Your friend invites you to a party you're not thrilled about. You say yes because you don't want to miss out and FOMO is your middle name.
Intuition: You say no to the party because you'd rather cozy up with a good book or spend time with people who light up your life. You're following your inner compass.

Understanding the interplay between the ego and the higher self is of paramount importance on our spiritual journey and personal growth. It matters because this awareness empowers us to make choices that align with our true purpose and inner calling, rather than succumbing to external pressures, fears, or superficial desires.
By recognizing the role of the ego as our protector and the higher self as our divine compass, we can achieve a profound sense of balance and harmony in our lives. It allows us to navigate challenges and decisions with clarity, authenticity, and inner peace.
Ultimately, grasping this distinction guides us towards a life that is more meaningful, fulfilling, and in tune with the greater spiritual forces at play in the universe, fostering a deeper connection with our innermost selves and the divine.
In a world that continually dictates what to pursue, how to look, and what to covet, it's crucial to remain true to yourself. Your intuition is your secret weapon for crafting a dream life that authentically reflects your desires.
So, the next time you feel the pull of the ego, ask yourself: "Am I doing this for myself, or for external approval?"
Keep in mind that your dream life is not about impressing others; it's about embracing your best self, contributing your unique gifts to the world, and deriving profound satisfaction from within. Let your intuition be your guide, and let your authentic self shine.
