10 Questions to Ask Yourself When You Feel Stuck or Lost

Blog/Dharma/10 Questions to Ask Yourself When You Feel Stuck or Lost

There’s something uniquely frustrating (and even a little lonely) about that stuck, lost, or “floating” feeling.

You can’t quite name what’s wrong…

But you know you’re not where you used to be and not yet where you want to go.

You might be asking yourself questions like:

Why don’t I feel excited about anything right now?
Is this just burnout? Or is something deeper going on?

Am I behind? Or just… changing?

If you’ve been there (or are there now), I want you to know something that took me a long time to learn:

You’re not broken. You’re in a transition. And transitions are sacred.

My Story: From Overdrive to Stillness

I’ve had many “lost” seasons in my life. The kind where everything technically looks fine, but deep down, I feel unanchored, uninspired, or restless.

Back when I was a single mom in my early twenties, life demanded constant motion.

I was raising my son, waitressing nights, getting my business degree by day, and doing everything I could to keep our heads above water. I didn’t have time to reflect. I barely had time to think.

I just kept going.

Eventually, I transitioned into a full-time corporate role. Life settled a bit. My son grew more independent. But even with stability, those lost feelings didn’t disappear, they just showed up in more subtle ways. I’d hit a goal… and feel weirdly empty. Or wake up one day and feel completely disconnected from the life I’d built.

What I've learned is that this isn’t failure.

This is the ebb that follows the flow.

It’s the sacred pause between old chapters and new beginnings.

Women Are Meant to Be Cyclical

Have you ever noticed that the average menstrual cycle is the same number of days as the lunar cycle? As women, we’re biologically and energetically designed to move in cycles.

There are seasons of blooming and seasons of rest. Seasons for striving, and seasons for turning inward.

I’ve been really into cycle syncing lately. Not just hormonally, but also energetically. One of the things I’ve learned is this:

Feeling stuck or uninspired doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.

It means your soul might be asking for stillness. For deeper self-care. For reflection. Not more action.

This is why I don’t believe in “pushing through” those stuck moments anymore.

Instead, I slow down. I turn inward. I ask better questions.

10 Questions to Ask Yourself When You Feel Stuck or Lost

These aren’t questions to “fix” you. They’re invitations to reconnect with yourself.

Give yourself the grace to sit with these. Journal on them. Feel into them. Let the answers come in their own time.

1. What am I craving more of emotionally, physically, or spiritually?
This helps you tune into your real needs & not just your to-do list.

2. What’s one thing I’ve been forcing that no longer feels aligned?
Often, stuckness is our intuition resisting something that’s no longer working.

3. When was the last time I felt truly alive or inspired? What was I doing?
This isn’t about chasing a high. It’s about remembering what lights you up.

4. Am I in a season of rest, growth, healing, or transition?
Labeling your season removes the pressure to be somewhere else.

5. What do I need to forgive myself for right now?
Sometimes we stay stuck because we haven’t released self-blame.

6. Where in my life do I feel constricted and what might spaciousness look like instead?
This opens up the idea that you’re allowed to want more ease.

7. What have I been tolerating that I’ve actually outgrown?
This one often stings (and frees!)

8. What version of me am I being called to step into even if I’m not fully ready yet?
This question activates possibility, not pressure.

9. What feels good in my body right now? What doesn’t?
Your body always knows. Sometimes we just forget to ask.

10. If I deeply trusted life was unfolding perfectly, what would I do differently today?
This invites softness, surrender, and space for something new to emerge.

These Questions Are Just the Beginning

You don’t need to answer them all at once. You don’t need to rush clarity.

Let your intuition guide you as you answer the questions.

Make space. Breathe. Light a candle. Put pen to paper.

Let this be less about fixing yourself and more about remembering yourself.
